  1. Unzip the file ZCOMLITE.ZIP with  PKUNZIP 2.04g or higher.

  3. You will have the following files:
  4.    ZCOMLITE.GEO
  5.    STREAMC.GEO
  6.    README.TXT

  8. First you must create a directory in which to place ZComm Lite.  The directory
  9. you need to create is \GEOWORKS\WORLD\ZCOMM.  This directory can be on your
  10. B: drive or on the C: drive (PCMCIA card).  If placing on the C: drive, you
  11. MUST create all of the directories specified.  If you intend on using an
  12. internal PCMCIA modem, such as the AMT StarCard, then you MUST create the
  13. directory on your B: drive.

  15. Next place the file ZCOMLITE.GEO in the ZCOMM directory you just created.
  16.  
  17. Lastly place the file STREAMC.GEO file in the Zoomers B:\GEOWORKS\SYSTEM
  18. directory.

  20. To run ZComm Lite, use the Launcher hard icon, select ZCOMM and then select
  21. ZComm Lite.  After the initial greetings dialog box, you are presented with
  22. another dialog box requesting you select a default COMM port.  If you are using
  23. an external modem select the RS-232 option.  If you are using an internal
  24. PCMCIA modem card, select PCMCIA.
  25.     *** Note, the only PCMCIA modem I have been able to test with is the new
  26.         AMT StarCard.  I have not tested the modem to DEATH, but tests that
  27.         I have done show the modem works well.

  30.   FILE
  31.     Send File         - Allow sending of an ASCII file
  32.     Receive File*     - Currently disabled
  33.     Capture Off/On    - Allows specification of a capture file to open/close
  34.     eXit              - Shutdown ZComm Lite

  37.     Hang Up           - Drops DTR for 5 seconds
  38.     Send Ctrl-C       - sends Control C out serial port
  39.     Clear XOFF        - sends XOn (Ctrl-Q) out serial port
  40.     Send Misc         - sends Misc field of current DD record
  41.     Initialize Modem  - sends initialization sequence to modem
  42.     Redial Last       - redials the last selected phone number

  45.     Dialing Directory - brings up DD phone list
  46.     Settings ->       - allows setting communication parameters

  61.   All of the above options are self explanatory except for Dialing Directory.
  62. ZComm Lite allows you to keep four phone entries for your most often called
  63. phone numbers.  Each Phone Directory record contains four fields.  Those fields
  64. are: Name, Phone, Params and Misc.
  65.     Name   is not currently used by ZComm Lite other than to give the user a
  66.            descriptive title for the record.
  67.     Phone  contains the phone number to call.
  68.     Params is not currently used, it's intended purpose is to allow the user
  69.            to define on a record by record basis how the communication port
  70.            should be setup.
  71.     Misc   currently, is usable by Zcomm Lite for sending of passwords, etc.
  72.            to host systems.  As an example, if one of your entries was for
  73.            Compuserve, you would place your UserID and Password in the Misc
  74.            field.  Then when you receive the ID: prompt you would select
  75.            menu option Comm | Send Misc and it would send the info.  For this
  76.            example Misc would look like '7xxxx,xxxx/cccccccccc'.

  78.   The buttons on the bottom of the dialog box have the following uses:
  79.       'Nxt' and 'Prv' buttons to navigate and display each record. 
  80.       'Save' button to save any changes to a record.
  81.       'Ok' button to call the currently viewed record.
  82.       'Quit' button to cancel without calling.

  84. DISCLAIMER
  85.   I have tested this program pretty completely both in simulation and on my
  86. own Zoomer.  I have had no problems, but then I wrote the program and I know
  87. what I should do and not do.
  88.   That having been said, I must make the following disclaimer statement.
  89.   I will not be held legally or monitarily responsable for any damages or loss
  90. of data incurred thru the use of ZComm Lite.  Use it at your own risk.

  93.   All that having been said, ENJOY.  ZComm Lite, being a FREEWARE program,
  94. will have no further features added.  It will be maintained and any bugs
  95. reported to me will be fixed in future revisions.
